  Democracy Now! interviews Anuradha Mittal about the report, “Understanding Land Investment Deals in Africa.” Some U.S. universities are invested in hedge funds that back large-scale industrial farming that force African farmers off their land. Mittal says,“They (private hedge funds), start buying the means of production and it is the kind of vertical integration of the food system we have never seen before.”
